Mark 11:25, “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Many people launch into Bible reading and prayer without taking the important step of considering the state of their hearts. That is why they often find themselves reading without receiving revelation and praying without peace of heart.

Sometimes we try to mask the disturbance of the heart by engaging ourselves in other activities in an attempt to forget about it or to postpone dealing with it. But the answer is spiritual – settlement comes through repentance of sin and seeking God’s face for forgiveness.

When you delay settlement, then you are building up the disturbance in your heart. It cannot be solved by trying to cover it with hard work, recreational activities or schemes of blaming.

Delay comes in settling the issues of the heart when someone is not truly ready to deal with the sin that has caused the disturbance. Perhaps because there was a fleeting enjoyment of that sin, or maybe because they have not been alert to recognise what it truly is. But as Christians, we should strike the root! You have to get right with God!

Satan tries to use guilt from the past to paralyse us in the present from taking right actions. But the truth is that when we turn to God with all of our hearts, He’s ready and willing to welcome us, to forgive us and the past is over. The wrong steps you took yesterday don’t disqualify you. So, don’t waste another moment – identify where you have gone wrong, ask God for forgiveness and reconnect with Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, today I come before You, in need of Your divine forgiveness. I confess my sins to You knowing that You are the only One who can calm the storm within me. Thank You for Your mercy and for making me whole. In Jesus’ name, amen.
