In September 2024, God’s Heart TV spearheaded a humanitarian project in Zanzibar, East Africa. A hotspot for tourism, Zanzibar is famous for its spices and paradise-like beaches but despite the nation’s richness in natural beauty and resources, half the population experience multi-dimensional poverty.
The first stop was in Dunga, a rural city in the heart of Zanzibar where the God’s Heart TV Team surprised local villagers with bags of rice, flour, washing powder, bars of soap, salt and oil. Most of the villagers met by the team had built their own houses from the materials they had gathered from the natural environment around them using stones, mud, wood and palm leaves. The team moved through the forest area reaching out to those in great need, reminding them that God loves them and is concerned about them. They were very appreciative of the visit and the supplies they freely received.
Afterwards, the God’s Heart TV Team headed to Montesorri Orphanage, which has been running since 2006 and presently take care of 56 orphans. 10 of the orphans are babies and the rest range from ages 5-12. After preparing and then packing gift bags for the orphans, the team filled the truck with additional supplies of rice, nappies and sanitary items. They also organised a large, freshly cooked meal of chicken and beef pilau rice with salad in preparation to spend the afternoon with the orphans.
The team were warmly welcomed and shown around the orphanage. After that, food was served and the team ate together with the children. In a show of appreciation, the orphans sang a song and then performed a number of dances for the team! Gift packages were then given out to the orphans which contained stationery, colouring books and crayons for the younger ones, along with toiletries and indoor slippers for the older orphans. The additional supplies of rice, nappies and sanitary products were presented to the owner of orphanage, alongside a cash gift of 1,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings. Glory be to God!
